Important Support Policy Updates – Version & OS Requirements
On July 1, 2024, SoftTouch issued a notice regarding upcoming changes to our service and support policies related to outdated software versions and unsupported operating systems. You may have also received a call from your Relationship or Channel Manager about this directly.
These updates reflect our commitment to aligning with evolving industry standards and strengthening the security, performance, and compliance of the SoftTouch platform.

Wondering What Software Version and Operating Systems required?
🔄 Software Version Requirements
To streamline SoftTouch support services and maintain consistency across environments, support eligibility will now depend on your current software version:
- Version 6.5.x
Effective August 1, 2025, we will no longer provide any technical support, including limited hourly billable services, for Versions 6.5.x or earlier. Merchants should immediately upgrade their systems to supported and compliant Version 6.6.xx or later. The prior Service and Support Update from July 2024 that ended support for version 6.5.XX but did allow for billable house will conclude once this new policy is in effect. - Version 6.6.27 or later
By January 1, 2026, Merchants will be required to upgrade to Version 6.6.27 or later. This ensures access to new features, PCI compliance, security enhancements, and system reliability.
💻 Operating System Compatibility
Our OS support policy is also being updated to reflect modern security and compliance expectations:
- Windows 7
Windows 10 has been the minimum required version for SoftTouch POS since 2020. Effective immediately, we will no longer provide any technical support for Windows 7 environments. Merchants are required to upgrade to a supported operating system to ensure full compatibility with SoftTouch. Please note: our team cannot assist with troubleshooting on Windows 7 platforms. - Windows 10
We will continue to support Windows 10 through at least 2030. While Microsoft may begin sunsetting updates before then, our systems remain compatible with the platform.
💳 Legacy Support
To ensure full compliance with PCI and prevailing industry standards by August 1, 2025, all merchants are required to upgrade to Windows 10 and SoftTouch Software Version 6.6.xx. Technical support will no longer be available for Windows 7 environments or SoftTouch software versions 6.5.xx and earlier, as of the dates indicated above.
